The Rolex Sea-Dweller Deepsea 116660 was first introduced in 2008, it is a marvel of modern wrist watch engineering. This Rolex is a watch designed for professional divers, and deep-sea explorers, and can withstand the hugely impressive depth of up to 3,900 metres (12,800 feet). At these depths there is huge amounts of pressure, where the 44mm and helium escape valve come into play.

The 44mm Deepsea 116660 features a thicker than usual scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, this crystal is 5mm thick and is designed specifically to resist the pressures of the deep oceans. At the heart of this Rolex is the automatic Rolex calibre 3135, an extremely well tested and reliable movement with a 48-hour power reserve. The Oyster bracelet, is equipped with the glidelock clasp system that allows for easy and quick sizing adjustments.

One of the standout features of the Deepsea 116660 is the ceramic unidirectional rotatable bezel that is designed with a 60 minute graduated scale that enables divers to track time elapsed under water. Additionally, the helium escape valve—an innovation that dates back to Rolex’s early Sea-Dweller models—ensures the watch remains intact during deep-sea saturation diving.
